IN THE JUNGLE. Summer 2018 Series

Hello everyone,

Well for many people summer is the season for long hikes in trails. Although I do enjoy going for walks; this day I was inspired to photoshoot insisted. Something about the “jungle” excites me, and my animalistic creative side comes out. I hope you enjoy this unconventional post here on the blog since I haven’t done anything like this before.

LAVELLE TORONTO

I have promised my readers more posts from Lisbon. But since I have been back home for a while I wanted to give my readers a break from my Portugal trip and updated you all on some of the things I have been doing lately.
I enjoy discovering new places in the summer, and today was no different. Lavelle is a luxurious restaurant, with a lounge area, pool and an outdoor bar roof top. Sitting 16 stories high Lavelle has one of the best views of the escarpments and the famous CN Tower due to the great location. What do I like about this place? Well first of all I enjoy patient and friendly service. The workers really make an effort in giving customers the full Lavelle experience by being very informative and suiting your needs specially regarding reservations.
Taste some of the most refined cosine by famous chef Romain Avril and don’t forget to make reservations way ahead in advance because this place is always packed specially in the summer. Come picture ready and don’t forget to take that Instagram perfect shot.

For more information pleased check out Lavelle’s website at http://chezlavelle.com/

Cascais – Lisbon, Portugal

Within approximately 31km away from Lisbon you will find this old and new style homes municipal called Cascais. A very prestigious area full of beautiful historical sculptures, amazing restaurants, shops, the Cascais Shopping and of course the breath taking Cascais beach.
A lot of the rich and famous live in Cascais. Many influential people in  Portugal prefer this quiet area to live and relax, over downtown Lisbon.
Portugal’s constructions are a mix of modern and ancient infrastructures. The beautiful colors of Cascais are very captivating for locals and even more for tourists because at times gives you the sense of being in an older historic town with a modern twist.
Although my main reason to come to Portugal was for the gastronomy, I was too busy eating and forgot to document majority of the food. My next post I will talk about the amazing places I have eaten at and some more site seeing I did while I was there.

Slip Dress a.k.a Cami Dress over T-shirt Trend
Where have you been if you haven’t seen this trend? Fashion is all inspired by “night wear” lately. Just when we thought that slip or cami dresses were just for bed, designers were inspired to bring this fabric from the comfort of wearing at home to the streets.

This trend was very present in the 90s and now is back. You can be versatile with it by wearing it with not just high heels, but also with runners or even flat sandals. The slip dress is a very comfortable item to wear because of its fabric. It is nice and soft. But the down part is that this fabric gets wrinkly very fast. So you will need to iron it before wearing it, and as you sit down throughout the day this material tends to get even wrinkled.

I would say that when I saw this trend I wasn’t in love with it because I was seeing celebrities wearing it with t-shirts that weren’t fitted. I wouldn’t wear this loose dress with a loose t-shirt underneath. That is why I paired it with a more fitted t-shirt.

Remember to always put your spin on things you don’t need to stick so much with the trend.
As I always say FASHION HAS NO RULES!

Who watched the Miss Universe yesterday? First and foremost let me congratulate Iris Mittenaere from France for the big win last night. Canada wasn’t bad either. Our candidate was able to make it to the top 10 so that was very good as well.

Miss Universe gowns are to die for. The only down part about gowns like the ones seen on the competition is finding a place to wear them. Can we wear a gown like those ones twice? That will always be a question on my mind. Perhaps at a wedding or so but I picture people that have those super high end dresses perhaps don’t wear them often.

Lets talk about my African Couture dress, sorry ladies you will not be able to find this dress. Yes it was custom made for me just like many items I own in my closet. I  want to thank my amazing African friend for sending me this beautiful dress. She lovingly told the tailor to make it long and fitted in the waist just the way I like it.

I will be wearing this dress to weddings and perhaps some galas.

Where can you find African prints fabrics? Well depending on where you live African prints are sold sometimes in African beauty hair supply stores. In downtown Toronto for example people can buy the African prints and take it to a tailor to custom make into something that expresses their style. The beauty of custom designing your own dress is that it becomes your own unique creation and that only you have it. I will be tagging some online stores on my Instagram where you can purchase African prints.

Fashionistas welcome to a year full of fashion on Zani’s Styles.

Summer Fun: Beer Festival

img_1052

Hello fashionable people!
Many of my friends who know me know that I don’t drink alcohol and have been asking me “What are you doing at Beer Fest if you are not going to try all of the different flavors of beer?”
I’ll give you all a bit of information about me. I am the kind of person that rarely says “Why?” I usually say “Why Not?” Plus I took some cool beer photos!
To me the experience of attending a festival like this is best with great company. I love trying new things and I wanted to have an idea on how the Beer Fest works. With a variety of food trucks there, a foodie like me is on an amazing adventure to taste everything possible.
Beer Fest is a festival that happens in Hamilton, Toronto, Niagara Falls and other cities in Ontario. I attended the one in Niagara Falls this year. My crowd thought the beers tasted fantastic. The food trucks were delicious as well. I’m not into drinking, but If you are a beer lover, then I believe you should try checking out Beer Fest in the summer.

Blush Pink

IMG_7726

Blush pink was the highlight of the spring. Before the season ended even though I don’t wear a lot of pink I decided to get myself this pink dress. This dress can be worn to a wedding  since its wedding session, to a high end event, to dinner and so forth.

Now my favourite season has arrived. I am excited to share my summer adventures with you all. Stay tuned!

The Statement Blazer

IMG_5976

As you all already know I love a simple, chic and modest look incorporated with a few statement pieces. That’s the idea of today’s post. I tend to wear a lot of neutral shades so sometimes I need a little touch of colour. This blazer makes me a bit confused. Yes I said confused! Only because in different lights this blazer appears to be a different colour each time. I will try to explain: Sometimes it looks more olive green, or khaki green and sometimes I feel like it’s more navigating towards a light brown. I feel colour blind when I have to determined the colour of this beautiful blazer from H&M. Either way I love the statement it makes paired with my simple stripe top and my white skinny jeans.

Talking about prints…ok I have to confess I don’t have a lot of prints! I am trying to incorporate more prints in my wardrobe. Plus the blog is called Zani’s Styles so my intention is to keep this blog very versatile. So stay tuned I have a post coming up specifically on prints.

Canadian International Auto Show

IMG_5400

The event has been happening in Toronto since 1974. This historic event has brought together generations of people from all around the world. Everyone at the event today had one thing in their mind: Who’s got the hottest cars this year?

IMG_5354

This was my first time attending the show and I thought it was an amazing experience. From the way the cars are displayed, to the sales people and the booths at the venue that creates an almost festive experience. I can’t wait to be there next year again!

IMG_5364 IMG_5385

IMG_5376My outfit …I had a challenge choosing this outfit. I like the looks to match the venue/events… Since I never attended a car show before, I had no idea what to expect or what to wear. When I plan to attend an event the first thing in my mind is always what to wear. I had no clue on what to wear for the auto show. For many people this a no brainier but for me that’s an important task. So I decided on this edgy look. By now you all know that I love leather. I know I have worn this leather pants many times but I love it so much. The store that I purchased this leather pants might be closing soon so if you have a similar taste in fashion and want to get a pair like mine run now! I bought this fringe top on sale at Zara I can’t believe it was only $15. The shoes are my favorite shoes at the moment and also my favorite colour right now; khaki or military green some people call it earthy green.
